Three cheers for the red, white and blue! Here are some creative, inexpensive patriotic crafts to show your American pride on the Fourth of July this year!

Most 4th of July activities take place outdoors. But if the weather is extra hot or rain forces the kids inside, what are some easy activities to keep them busy?

Patriotic Beach Balls

These are adorable, easy, inexpensive and fun! Oriental Trading once again has to be the best source there is for quick, simple crafts for kids. These patriotic beach balls will be fun to decorate- and then play with when you’re done! And for $9.95 for 12, you can’t beat the price.

Patriotic Jewelry

You can visit any craft store and purchase some clear string and a red, white and blue collection of patriotic beads for kids to make necklaces or bracelets- or even pins or keychains. Or you can simply order them online as a Beaded Patriotic Charm Bracelet Craft Kit (only $8.69 for a set of 12, also at Oriental Trading).

Martha Stewart 4th of July Crafts

Making a red white and blue garland is easy when you follow the instructions conveniently provided by Martha’s pro team of crafting wizards. This patriotic garland, assembled by kids, would also make a great decoration for your 4th celebration. Other ideas on the Martha Stewart website include patriotic votives, napkin rings and rubber stamp 4th of July activities.

Let Kids Get Creative

Simply supplying kids with red, white and blue construction paper, craft foam, markers, glitter, ribbons, beads or buttons could create the most adorable patriotic decorations you could imagine. Tell kids you want to use their creations as decorations, and you will be pleasantly surprised at what their clever little minds can produce!

Patriotic Baton

Family Fun is another website that has very cute, creative craft ideas. One of their easy ideas for the 4th of July is to have kids make a parade-ready baton; simple to make with a dowel rod, ribbons and paint. Add some red, white and blue balloons to decorate wagons, and kids will really enjoy making their own parades around the neighborhood.

Fun With Photos

An easy way to have kids create crafts is to purchase plain wooden frames from a dollar or craft store and some red, white and blue paint, glitter or other decorations. You can also get sticker letters at a craft store so kids can write ‘Freedom’ or ‘Happy 4th’ on their patriotic frame, which will look fantastic when a picture from the celebration is added later.

Read some great 4th of July songs to play at your party!

Have a star-spangled 4th of July!
