Directions for Candy Corn Decoration

  1. Cut a candy corn shape (tall triangle with rounded corners and curved bottom) pattern from newsprint. Make the pattern as large as possible but small enough to fit within the dimensions of the poster board.
  2. Trace entire candy corn outline onto yellow poster board. Use scissors or craft knife to cut out yellow poster board.
  3. On the newsprint pattern from above, draw two curved lines onto the pattern, marking where the orange and white colors belong on a typical piece of candy corn. Write #1 on the top triangle pattern piece, which is typically “white” on traditional candy corn. Write #2 on the middle section of the pattern, which is typically “orange” on traditional candy corn. Cut newsprint pattern on lines. Set bottom section aside.
  4. Lay #1 pattern, the top triangle piece onto white poster board and trace around pattern piece. Repeat using the same piece of white poster board. Try to fit as many top triangle pieces on the white poster board as possible. Cut out white poster board pieces.
  5. Lay #2 pattern, the middle candy corn section onto orange poster board. Trace around pattern piece, fitting as many pattern pieces as possible on one sheet of poster board. Cut out orange poster board pieces.
  6. Staple or glue white and orange pieces to yellow candy corn poster board pieces so that the colors are in order to look like a huge piece of candy corn.
  7. Laminate poster board if the candy corn decoration will hang outside.
