Christian Easter Crafts for Kids

Three Easy, Inspirational Ideas for Children's Easter Projects

© Christy Jones

These fun, faith-filled crafts remind kids of the true meaning of Easter. They're great for Sunday school groups, or to make at home.

If you have a large group, you may want to offer several Easter craft stations and have the kids rotate through each one. Each of these crafts provides an opportunity to retell part of the Easter story.

New Life Seed

Planting seeds is a excellent Easter craft to remind kids how Jesus died and was buried and rose again to new life. Peas work perfectly, since they’re large enough for kids to hold, and they grow and flower fairly quickly. The popsicle stick cross reminds kids of Jesus's sacrifice, and provides a support for the plant. Like the seed, we are dead to sin, but have new life through faith in Jesus. We need his support to live and grow.

Supplies:

To make the Easter craft:

  1. Glue two popsicle sticks together to make a cross.
  2. Use plastic spoons to scoop the soil into a paper cup or small pot.
  3. Insert one end of the cross into the pot.
  4. Poke a hole in the soil for the seed.
  5. Put the seed in the hole and cover it with soil.

Remind the kids to water their plants when they get home.

He is Risen Egg

The dollar store should have just about everything you need for this Easter craft. You can leave the egg empty to symbolize the empty tomb, or include a small plastic dove. (You may be able to find doves in the wedding favor section of a dollar store, along with inexpensive favor baskets.) The hollow egg reminds us that Jesus has risen, and the dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit.

Supplies:

To make the Easter craft:

  1. Decorate the favor basket or bag and assemble it if necessary.
  2. Fill the basket with Easter grass or stuffing.
  3. Put the egg on top of the filler.
  4. Tie a ribbon on the top of the basket.

Easter Cards

This simple craft is a great way to share the good news that Jesus is risen. For young kids, you may want to print up some scripture verses or Easter sayings on address labels for them to use. For kids who are old enough to write but need help spelling, you may want to write out a few commonly used phrases for them to copy. Like the women who found the empty tomb, we need to share the good news about Jesus.

Supplies:

To make the Easter craft:

All you need to do is provide the supplies and let the kids get creative. Remind the kids to give the cards to someone and share the good news of Easter!
