Quick Holiday Craft Activities for Children Using Circle Shapes

Sticker dots in Christmas colors make this list of holiday craft activities simple and festive.

Children will enjoy creating art projects for Christmas that are based on the shape of a circle. These holiday crafts are quick, easy and require little in the way of supplies. Sticker dots are the main ingredient for all of the craft projects listed below. Children of all ages will be able to complete these simple and attractive Christmas art projects. Preschool teachers can celebrate the circle shape along with holiday activities in an interesting way for young children. Party hosts can offer sticker dot craft projects to children ranging in age from three to thirteen.

Sticker Dot Holiday Shape Decorating

Supplies Needed:

  • Construction paper cut into shapes of familiar Christmas symbols - Christmas trees, Christmas stockings or holiday wreaths.
  • Sticker dots in holiday colors – red, green, gold, silver, yellow

What Children Do:

Children choose a construction paper shape and decorate the shape with sticker dots.

Festive Holiday Hanging Swirls

Supplies Needed:

  • Paper plates – 1 per child
  • Sticker dots in holiday colors – red, green, gold, silver, yellow

Activity Preparation:

Adults cut a spiral pattern into each paper plate: cut into one edge of paper plate at a slight angle and cut around the edge of the plate approximately 1 inch from edge. Continue cutting around and around the plate in smaller circles (making each cut approximately 1 inch smaller than the previous circle) until the cut reaches the center of the plate.

What Children Do:

  1. Children place sticker dots onto one side of the paper plate choosing to place stickers in either random order or in a pattern.
  2. Attach a length of festive ribbon or fishing line to the center circle of the swirl and hang from the ceiling.

Optional: Use green paper plates and holiday swirls will resemble a Christmas tree.

Sticker Dot Garland

Supplies Needed:

  • Yarn in a holiday color – red, green, white, gold, silver
  • Sticker dots in holiday colors – red, green, gold, silver, yellow

Activity Preparation:

  • Cut a 6-foot length of yarn and stretch it out on the floor.
  • Adults demonstrate to children how to press two sticker dots together with the yarn in between.

What Children Do:

  1. Children press sticker dots together at different places on the length of yarn.
  2. After preschoolers are finished placing sticker dots on the yarn, use the yarn as a garland around a doorway, on a mantel or on a Christmas tree.

CD Picture Frame Ornament

Supplies Needed:

  • old CDs
  • sticker dots in holiday colors – red, green, gold, yellow
  • two round pictures of each preschooler, approximately 1 ½” in diameter
  • glue
  • fishing line

What Children Do:

  1. String clear fishing line through the hole in the CD to create a way to hang the CD ornament.
  2. Children glue the round picture in the center of CD.
  3. After glue has dried, Children decorate both sides of the CD with sticker dots.

Sticker Word Christmas Card

Supplies Needed:

  • cardstock paper in holiday colors
  • sticker dots in holiday colors - red, green, gold, silver, yellow

What Children Do:

  1. Fold cardstock paper to make a card. Write a simple holiday word in capital letters across the front of the card. Example: JOY, PEACE, LOVE.
  2. Place sticker dots of the same color over the lines in the letters of the word.
  3. Write or draw a holiday message inside the card.

Each of these holiday craft activities gets quick results with circle shaped sticker dots. Circle up children to decorate for the holidays with circles.
