These creative Father's Day cards include a tool belt and a grandfather clock, perfect for dads (and kids) who love to craft.

Both of these cards require basic craft supplies, such as construction paper, markers or crayons, a pencil, scissors, and white glue or glue sticks. You may also want to have real or toy tools handy for the tool belt card, and an optional paper brad for the grandfather clock.

Tool Belt Card

For the dad who loves home improvement, this card has all the tools he needs to have a happy Father’s Day. Kids can draw their own tools, or trace real or toy tools, such as a screwdriver, pliers, wrench or small hammer.

  1. Cut a strip of paper, about 1 1/2 inches wide, off the long edge of a piece of colored background paper.
  2. Draw or trace about four different tools on pieces of colored paper. Decorate the tools with markers or crayons, if desired.
  3. Place the tools on the colored background paper, so that the tops of the tools stick up above the long edge of the paper. Glue the tools to the card.
  4. Place the strip of colored paper over the tools. Glue the strip to the paper. Draw lines on the strip beside each tool to make it look more like a belt.
  5. Write a Father’s day message on the card, such as “Dad, you’re so handy to have around!”

Grandfather Clock Card

This card works for dads, but it’s especially perfect for grandpas. Kids can simply draw the hands on the clock, or make clock hands that really move by attaching strips of paper to the center of the circle with a paper brad.

  1. Draw and cut out a shape for the grandfather clock on a piece of colored paper. (You may want to fold the paper in half before you cut it to make the clock symmetrical.)
  2. Cut a circle of white paper that will fit on the top of the clock.
  3. Draw hands and number markings on the white circle using crayons or markers. You may also want to draw a smiling face. (To make clock hands that really move, cut strips of paper and attach them to the center of the circle with a paper brad.)
  4. Glue the white circle to the top of the clock.
  5. Cut two rectangles of matching paper, each about 2 inches wide by 5 inches tall, or the right size for the bottom of the clock.
  6. Place the rectangles on the bottom of the clock.
  7. Glue the outside edge of each rectangle to the clock. Leave the top, bottom, and inside edges of the rectangles unglued, so the doors can open.
  8. Draw handles on the doors using markers or crayons.
  9. Write a Father’s Day message under the doors, such as “Thanks for the time we spend together!”

You can use a large manilla envelope to mail these cards to dads or grandpas who live far away, or better yet, deliver them in person if possible. For more Father's Day card ideas, check out these Fun Father's Day Cards or Sporty Father's Day Cards.
