Top o’ the Mornin to Ye!

Looking for some creative, inexpensive, easy ideas for crafts to celebrate the luck o’ the Irish?

Celebrate your inner Irish this year on St. Patrick’s Day with some fun, simple activities that will create keepsakes for bringing out every March 17!

Shamrock Photo Frames

If you have a craft store nearby, you can pick up some self-adhesive shamrock stickers and some poster board, and cut out a rectangle to give to kids, who can simply attach a photo, then place the shamrock stickers in a square around the picture. This is easy and simple- and if you don’t have access to a craft store, Oriental Trading has the ready-made kits.

Rainbow Craft

Looking for that pot o’ gold at the end of the rainbow? Rainbows make a great craft theme for St. Patrick’s Day. Depending on how creative you are, you can put together markers or crayons, construction paper, cotton for clouds, and pennies for ‘gold’ and have kids assemble their own rainbow pot of gold creations, or you can simply buy these cute tissue paper rainbow kits and pass them out!

Leprechaun Hats

No St. Patrick’s Day is complete without a green leprechaun hat! These can be made easily with Styrofoam cups and small white (dessert-style) paper plates. Simply attach the Styrofoam cups to the paper plates and let the kids go wild with the green paint or markers! You could also cut out the center of a poster board rectangle and make a ‘buckle’ that could be decorated with glitter and added to the hat.

Wee Leprechaun

Family Fun is a great website for searching for holiday crafts and activities for St. Patrick's Day and other holidays. They have a super cute Wee Leprechaun craft idea that is simple and doesn’t require much in terms of materials or time. Check it out!

Food and Drink

If you are going to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by making some creative craft projects, you are definitely going to want to bring out the Irish for some food and drink as well! It is easy to make Green Punch- simply add ginger ale (and rainbow sherbet of course!) to some green Hi-C or other brand juice. Kids of all ages will love it! You could also make an easy St. Patrick’s Day snack mix using Lucky Charms cereal, raisins, pretzels or other small snack foods.
