In May we celebrate:

May Day (1)– Welcome spring with this holiday. Make a May Day basket and fill it with flowers or candy and give it to a friend.

Cinco de Mayo (5) – This holiday marks the victory of the Mexican Army over the French at the Battle of Puebla and is celebrated by Hispanics and Americans. Activities for this day might include making tacos, piñatas and reading about Mexico.

Memorial Day (26) – This is a wonderful opportunity to share with your children what men and women went through to make our country free. Originally called Decoration Day, it was designed to honor those who died in the Civil War. Spend this day sharing your family’s war heroes or learning about the Civil War. Make flags, decorate in patriotic colors and give thanks for your country.

National Day of Prayer (1) – This year prayer for our country and our troops.

Mother’s Day (9) - The most well known holiday in May. Honor your mom by making this her special day. Fix her favorite foods, do the dishes and let her put up her feet and rest.
