Easy Easter Recycle Craft for Kids

Turn old baby food jars into delightful candy holders when you make these adorable Easter chick candy jars.

This adorable Easter chick candy jar can easily hold your favorite jelly beans. You can keep him all to yourself or share him with a friend. It is also a great group project for Sunday school, scouts or 4-H. They are the perfect Easter basket stuffer. The directions call for yellow pompoms but you could use any color and make a rainbow of chicks to share.

Make an Easter Chick Candy Jar

What you will need:

• empty baby food jar with lid
• tacky craft glue
• orange construction paper
• yellow construction paper
• two wiggly eyes
• yellow pompoms (or any pastel spring color)

What you do:

1. First off make sure you wash the baby food jar. Rinse and let it dry completely. You will need 1 jar for each candy jar.
2. Next glue the yellow pompoms all over the outside of the baby good jar. Make sure you use tack craft glue for this. Regular Elmer’s school type glue will not hold the pompoms in place firmly. An easy way to do this is to cover a small area of the jar with glue, add some pompoms and then do another section.
3. Now on what will be the front, glue on the chick’s wiggly eyes. If you don’t have wiggly eyes you can cut two small black eyes out of construction paper with a hole punch and glue them on instead.
4. Next make a small beak out of orange construction paper. Glue it on the Easter chick just under the eyes. Cut out orange feet now too. Glue these on the bottom of the baby food jar so they stick out a bit.
5. Cut out two small wings from the yellow construction paper. Glue one on each side of your friendly little Easter chick.
6. Lastly cover the entire lid with yellow pompoms. Fill your Easter chick with jelly beans or your favorite Easter treats. Screw the lid in place.

These funny Easter candy jars are so easy to make why not make some for your friends and family? They are also the perfect holiday gift to pass out to shut-ins and to nursing home residents. Make up a dozen or so, place them in a colorful basket and hand deliver them. You will surely bring a smile to someone's day.

Table Decorations

These also make adorable Easter table decorations. Place one at each person's place with a name card or group several in the center with some brightly colored plastic Easter eggs. Let your guests each take one home with them.
