These two artistic ideas are a fun way for toddlers or school age children to make for their fathers for Father's Day or other holiday gift.

Many dads have work spaces or office areas, either on the job, or at home, that kids can help decorate in a personal and loving way with these two creative Father's Day craft ideas.

Recycled Bottle Bookends Personalized for Dad

Use empty juice, soda or laundry bottles to create a special set of bookends for father's office, study or bookshelf decor. Be sure whatever bottles you recycle for this project did not have toxic chemicals in them and try to find two matching bottles if you want the bookends to be equal size and shape. Wash the bottles clean and let them dry before filling them with sand in order to make them heavy enough to use as bookends.

Cover the bookend bottles with felt, colored paper or a layer of paint to create a solid background. Now the fun part begins! You can decorate the bookend in one of many different ways:

By helping the child use his imagination, there isn't much of a limit to how personal and creative you can get with these bookends. Each child can create his own, unique expression of how much he loves his father, or everyone can work together to create a pair of matching bookends. Either way, the personal gift is one that Daddy is sure to love.

Create a Personalized Pencil-Holder for Father's Day

Another cute office or desk decoration idea for Father's Day is to have the kids create a hand made pencil-holder. Use a tin-can and remove the lid completely. Use a can opener that leaves blunt, safe edges or sand down any sharp edges that might cut fingers later.

Let the children decorate the can with stamps, magazine clippings, words of love, pictures, paintings, glue and glitter, beads or construction paper. Once the kids are finished covering the entire outside of the can, the parent or teacher can paint over the whole surface with a sealer finish. Some glossy finishes are available that easily apply in a spray form. Be sure the pencil holders are completely dry before wrapping them up for a memorable and personalized Father's Day present that Dad is sure to love.
