Celebrate Thanksgiving Day with these special crafts that you and your kids can create together.

Thanksgiving Day is the day set aside to give thanks for the bountiful blessings that we have. It is a time to tell people how much you love them. Here are some easy to make Thanksgiving Day crafts that will help you get in the spirit of the holiday.

Harvest Bags

Materials:

  • Brown lunch bags
  • Yellow small pipe cleaners
  • Magazines
  • Glue
  • Candy

Instructions:

  1. Cut pictures of fruit, vegetables and fall items out of magazines and glue them onto the lunch bags to form your harvest bag.
  2. When completed fill the bags with assorted candy to take home and share. Also makes a nice gift for someone special.

Handful of Autumn

Materials:

  • Brown paper
  • Yellow paper
  • Bingo markers

Instructions:

  1. Place a child's arm on a sheet of brown construction paper (fingers should be spread apart). Trace the arm to near elbow and hand and cut out.
  2. Glue the cutout to a sheet of yellow construction paper.
  3. Let the children use colored BINGO markers to make leaves for their hand tree.

Printing with Corncobs

Materials:

  • Corncobs
  • Paper towel
  • Paint
  • Shallow container
  • Paper

Instructions:

  1. Wash corncobs and allow them to dry for several days.
  2. Make paint pads by placing folded paper towels in shallow containers and pouring on yellow tempera paint.
  3. Have the children first roll the corncobs on the paint pads. Then let them roll the cobs across their papers to make prints.

Tepee Place Holders

Materials:

  • Construction paper
  • Tape
  • Large toothpicks
  • Crayons or markers

Instructions:

  1. Print and use the tepee pattern below. Make as many copies as place holders you will need.
  2. Color the tepees and write the names of the people who will be sharing your Thanksgiving dinner on each tepee.
  3. Tape 3 toothpicks onto the back of the tepee at the top.
  4. Curl the pattern into a tepee shape and tape the back closed.

Turkey Craft

Materials:

  • Colored craft sticks
  • Short craft sticks
  • Craft spoon
  • Wiggly eyes
  • Wooden shapes for the turkey’s wattle and beak
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Red paint
  • Black and yellow construction paper
  • Glue

Instructions:

  1. Glue colored craft sticks around the wooden spoon to form the turkey’s tail feathers.
  2. Cut out a pilgrim hat shape from black construction paper and glue on a yellow trim and then glue it on to the top of the craft spoon.
  3. Glue on wiggly eyes.
  4. Paint a teardrop shaped wooded piece red and glue it on to the turkey as shown. 5. Glue on a smaller teardrop shaped piece upside down to form the beak.
  5. Glue onto smaller craft sticks on each side of the turkey’s head and neck to form wings.
  6. Shape brown pipe cleaners to form the turkey’s feet and glue them on to the back of the turkey.

Thankfulness Tree

Materials:

  • 2 grocery bags
  • Construction paper
  • Crayons or markers
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Cut open the grocery bags so it lays flat.
  2. Cut out a tree trunk and branch shapes.
  3. Use colored paper and cut out leaf shapes.
  4. Have children write what they are thankful for on the leaves and hang them on the tree.
